Acclaimed director James Gunn last worked with Pitch Perfect star Elizabeth banks on the 2006 cult American science fiction-black comedy horror film Slither. Now the duo team is coming back together to work on a brand new horror film. Gunn will produce with Banks acting in the project.
As of now, this untitled film hasn’t got a synopsis, but it has been confirmed that this project will be directed by David Yarovesky, writer and director of the sci-fi thriller film The Hive and is also a long time friend of James Gunn. Brian and Mark Gunn are on writing duties, with finance by Gunn’s company Troll Court Entertainment alongside The H Collective. Production begins in the spring.
James Gunn expresses his delight to be working with Banks again
In a recent interview with Deadline, he said:
‘Elizabeth and I have been on the same artistic page since we first met when she auditioned for Slither back in 2005. She’s since remained one of my best friends in the world, and I’ve been fighting tooth and nail to work with her again. She’s the perfect partner to Yarvo, the H Collective and myself in creating this very special project.’
When Slither was released back in 2006, with Gunn fairly new to the directing chair, but has since seen his star rise with the hit Guardians of the Galaxy films for Marvel. It’ll be interesting and exciting to see what new material Gunn has up his sleeves for this untitled horror film.
Our expectations are high for their project.
